This short story (approx. 4,400 words) contains adult content – for over 18 only.

  Chapter One

“Thank you, Linda… tasty as always,” my husband, Marc, says to me.

“It's just toast and eggs,” I laugh, shaking my head.

“But it is nice, Mom,” says my daughter, Casey.

Tommy just nods while he chews.

“Well, I'm glad your bellies are full. Now you better get a move on, or you will be late for work and school.” I’m always trying to keep this family in check.

“Yeah, yeah, we know,” Casey sasses back. She's only ten but acts like a teenager. I'm screwed when she does become one… she's totally the same as me, even with the same dark brown—almost black—hair, and eyes to match. Which is not good.

“Marc, I have that thing tonight,” I say, as I clean up the breakfast dishes. Tommy takes the last slice of toast off his plate.

“What thing?” Marc turns and stares at me with loving blue eyes. He is so innocent… his heart would shatter into a million pieces if he knew where I was going. He can never find out about my other life.

“Remember, I told you last week when you were watching football—I have a work event in the city.” I turn away and start loading the dishwasher. I hate lying to him.

“Sorry, Linda…you know my brain switches off when I'm watching football with the boys.” Marc gives a guilty smile.

“I'm not going into it again; at this rate, we’ll all be late. Don't forget Casey has dance tonight,” I add, trying to change the subject.

“Dad, don't be late like last time,” Casey snaps. I just shake my head. He only has to collect her once a month, and he somehow always manages to forget.

“Marc, did you hear that? You have to pick her up,” I say. At age thirty five, I'm already sounding like my mother.

I’m just glad I don't have the same obesity genes as her. Even after having the kids, I was able to keep my weight down. I still have love handles, though. Marc loves them, and I like having a bit of shape. Not all skin and bones...I need something for the men to grab hold of. I try to get to the gym when I can, but my shifts at the hospital are long. Normally I do strength training, which builds muscle anyway.

The faint stretch marks on my stomach are the only clues that I've had children, and in the dark you cannot see them. No one has ever commented, and I don't think anyone will when you are the best at what you do, like I am.

“Yes, I heard you.” Marc shakes his head, and the kids start laughing. I know he's mocking me.

“Whatever,” I say, as I leave the kitchen to the sound of Marc mumbling something… probably apologizing, because he does have a kind heart.

I gather my things and put them in my purse, then I glance up to the family photos on the wall.

One of the family vacation pictures isn't straight, and I place it back into its correct position. I do love my family, and I’ll do whatever I have to for them.

“Linda, are you okay? You know we were just kidding,” Marc says, breaking my stare.

Poor man looks so guilty, and for no reason. I always get like this on these days. I hate myself for that... If anything goes wrong, this could be our last day together.

I reach out to my loving husband and place my arms around him.

  “You okay?” he repeats.

“Yeah, sorry… just a lot going on at work,” I murmur, as I nuzzle into his warm and firm chest. He hasn’t changed since the day we met.

  Problem is, neither have I.

“Why don't you call in sick? You do so much for that place, you need a bit of time for yourself,” he explains. I really don't want to have this conversation now. He's always trying to get me to take time off work.

“It's not that simple. They need me.” Well, I need them. Marc doesn't know I've only ever worked part-time twenty hours a week at the hospital. I need the rest of the time for my other job—the job that's allowed us to live the life we’ve become used to, and one that fulfills my needs.

I release from Marc's embrace and kiss him firmly on his lips.

  “What was that for?”

I smile. “What, a wife cannot give her husband a kiss before leaving for work?”

“Not one like that. You sure you don't want calling in sick? We both can.” Marc smiles with a mischievous look in his eye.

I can feel my cheeks glowing red at the idea of staying in bed with him for the day. It would be fun. But not today…I've been working on this case for a month.

Casey walks into the hallway, and looks back and forth between us. “What's going on?” she asks, raising her eyebrow.

Nothing worse than your kid catching you flirting with your other half.

I pretend like I didn’t hear her question, and I grab my coat off the hanger.

“Have a good day at school,” I say to her. She just rolls her eyes at me. I lean in to kiss her on the cheek; I know in a few years she won’t let me do that. My heart feels heavy at the thought of my little girl getting bigger.

Tommy enters the hallway, and I pull him in for a hug. He's already too big to get kisses from his old mother.

“Mom, get off me,” he says, as he tries to wiggle free from my grip. I know he will not win that fight, and I plant a big kiss on his cheek leaving a red lipstick stain as evidence. His arms finally break free, and he frantically wipes at his face.

“Mom!” he snaps, as he runs off to the bathroom, making Marc and me smile.

“How late will you be?” Marc asks as I head towards the door.

“Not sure…guess you’ll be in bed by the time I get home,” I respond.

Marc leans in and kisses me on my lips. Why of all days does he have to be so affectionate? If only he was like this all of the time.

“Be careful on the roads…you know the crazies come out at night,” he says, and I smile back at him.

  He's right about that.

  Chapter Two

As I drive along the highway, I pass the hospital exit I would’ve taken if I were going to work.

A flurry of excitement washes over my body just as it does every time I have a job like this.

If it wasn’t for Marc and the children, I would still be doing this as my full-time job, and travelling the world. But I made the right decision… just one repossession per month. It's a good thing I’m excellent at my job, or my bosses would’ve had second thoughts about it. I guess that’s the kind of leeway you get when you are their number one hit women.

The other bonus I have with being number one is that I get to select the assignment before I take the job. We’ve gotten to point where the firm knows the type of men I like— they have to be handsome, and obviously healthy. That goes without saying if they are on the repossession list. We live in a time where organs are in high demand, and cost big money. If you don’t pay your bill, that’s where I come in. I possess your body for payment… it's kind of the new life cycle.

Why would a surgeon, a well-paid surgeon like me, get involved with this? I think to myself for
the millionth time. The only answer that I can come up with is that at the hospital I watch people die… people who want to live. And there are the others, those who are walking around healthy after having the transplants and not grateful for their lives. They don’t even bother with paying their bills.

The company I work for donates some of the organs to people who cannot afford them, and the other money goes to set-up costs, and my payment. We are the Robin Hoods of the organ world. Play fair with us, and we’ll play fair with you. But once their name is passed over to me, there is no turning back.

The other reasons I do it is for myself. I can feel the blood rising to my cheeks, making them glow red with a mixture of my emotions. I do it because I will be the last person they have sex with, and then I take their life from them… that’s my dirty little secret. I enjoy the power I have over them, knowing I will share those two moments with them.

The feeling is like nothing I’ve felt before. Trust me, I’ve tried to get the rush other ways…with drugs, living on the edge of life… nothing can match this high. I’ve come to terms with it now — it’s part of me. I’ve spent the last fifteen years doing this, nearly my whole adult life.

  Chapter Three

I select a different hotel room every time I have a job. It's different, but the same mid-tier hotel.

Old curtains that could do with a cleaning, and white comforters over the king sized bed. The room is next to a fire exit, making it easier to get in and out without being seen. The steps go down to the underground garage.

I would like to stay in a high-tier hotel, but there are always too many staff at those places. Too many eyes that could connect me to the victim. All these years I’ve never been implicated, and I tap my knuckles lightly on the wooden desk at the thought. Please let tonight go well. I always have the same fears and worries before the big event… what if something goes wrong, and he turns on me? Others have in the past. They are fighting for their lives, after all.

I shake my head, trying to clear away any doubts from my mind. My men will not let that happen to me. I always have two associates watching over me on the job. Alan and Mike are my black shadows, and they hide in the dark until I call them. Normally that’s when the job is all done… well my part of the job, that is. Then they come to collect the body for the organs to be harvested. I’ve had the same two men for my entire career… we were all young when we first started.

Mike is five years older than me, and I’m sure he colors his hair. It's just too black—a stark contrast to his white skin and blue eyes. He’s taller than Alan, but not by much. He’s well-built and looks like he could run through a brick wall… that’s one of the things I love about him.

Alan is in his late fifties and is like a father figure to Mike and me. Or, rather, a guardian angel.

With only a few strands of brown hair remaining, the rest is a bush of white, just like his overgrown eyebrows. They don’t look like the normal repo men, which are the new wave. The new wavers wear their tight black leather pants with jackets to match, and they work for the government.

Unlike us, they are allowed to legally kill their victims— people whose insurance paid for part of their organ transplant, unlike ours who got them on the black market.

Insurance costs the price of a mortgage, so not many people can afford it nowadays. And some don't bother, instead risking their chances of being healthy… just like my family. One thing with this job is I have money put away if any of us get sick, I can pay for everything they need.

It's a shame that Aaron, my next repo, didn't do the same. Instead he spent his money leading the fast life of women and drugs.

If only he had saved up and been more responsible then we wouldn’t be here today. It's kind of ironic his day job is to work on the stock market... All the money running through his mind, but none in his pocket.

He had the money to pay for a dating website, which is how we met. He made everything very easy for us…his passwords were a joke. We disabled his page and made him believe that I was the only woman who was interested in him. Today will be our third date, and his last.

I change out of my normal conservative attire and into something more suitable for today's event. I bought them earlier day… I like to get new clothes for the job, and well, it kills time as I wait for night to fall. I cut off the tags and sigh. Shame I will only wear this outfit once, and never again.

I quickly dress in the tailored skirt suit, and leave the top two buttons undone on the silk cream shirt, revealing a sneak peek of my firm breast.

My purse is stocked with everything I need. I hold the small vial up to the light and smile. How can something that looks like water be so dangerous... deadly?

  Chapter Four

I glance down at my watch. He’s late. This is not like him.

Each time the restaurant door opens, I glance at the mirror behind the bar, so I don’t have to turn around.

Finally I see him. His light brown hair is ruffled, as if he's been pulling at it. His eyebrows are scrunched with concern. What’s happened to make him this way?

Lexi, not now… don’t be concerned for the man, I tell myself. Well, I tell the repo women who I turn into on a job. I named her Lexi, nice and easy to remember. Sexier than Linda, my real name. All repo women and men have a ‘work’ identity… makes it easier to have no link to our normal life.

I turn on the barstool to face him with a smile plastered on my face. I reach for the martini I’d ordered and pass it to him. “Looks like you could do with this,” I say, as he takes it from my hand.

He tries to smile, but there is no twinkle in his eyes. He pours the clear liquid down his throat in one gulp.

“Another please,” I say to the bartender.

I step down from the bar carrying our cocktails. Well, only his is a cocktail, mine is sparkling water… I need a clear mind for the job, and he needs a drunken one.

I take him to a booth by the back exit that leads to the hotel. I set his glass down on the table, so he sits on the side I want him to, giving me the perfect view of the mirror. I like to be able to always see who is coming in, and have a clear path to the exit.

Aaron slumps his body in the leather seat and frowns.

  “What's happened?” I ask.

He takes in another long drink and wipes his hand across his lips. Clearly he drank too fast. “Mmm… it's—” He stops himself from speaking. I cannot have him too drunk, or he will not be able to perform. Then all this will be a waste. Well, a waste for me.

I really don’t want to know what's bothering him, so I lean my head closer to his and kiss him firmly on his lips. An electrical pulse runs over my body. The game has begun.

Aaron returns the affection and kisses me as if his life depends on it… which it does. My mind laughs. Actually, his life doesn’t depend on it— it's already over. He places his hand onto my thigh, on the top of my sheer black stockings, and my pussy throbs with excitement.

He pushes my skirt upwards, and he trails his finger across the lace of my stockings as his tongue explores my mouth.

Then he stops and pulls his lips away. I open my eyes to look at him, to see what made him stop. I glance into the mirror. No one is looking at us. They are all going about their lives as if we are invisible… just as I wanted.

“Lexi, you are killing me,” Aaron says, as he takes a gulp of his cocktail. Then he shakes his head when he places the empty glass onto the table.

  I catch my breath. “What?”

“I want you,” he says with a filthy grin on his face.

“Oh, I want you too,” I say in my most girly voice. Aaron stares at me with wide eyes, and I smirk. “I have a hotel room.”

“Then what are we doing here?” he murmurs, his body already leaning forward.

I rise to my feet. “Not sure,” I say, as we walk towards the exit.

Aaron rummages in his pocket, pulls out some cash, and drops it onto the table.

Pushing open the exit door, I
see the sky has turned black and the stars are out, lighting the way for me. I hurry down the dark alley, knowing that he's right behind me.

He’s quickly beside me. “You are one sexy mystery lady, Lexi,” he says like a giddy schoolboy finally going to have sex for the first time. Shame it's going to be his last time.

Don’t worry… it will be your best time…

“Yes, I am,” I grin at him. He places his arm around me, pulling me in closer to his body.

“How far to the hotel? I might have to take you right here,” he whispers huskily.

“It's a good thing we’re here now,” I say, as I push open the exit door. I’d unlocked it earlier before I’d left.

I take off my heels and place them into my hand. “Race you,” I say playfully.

Aaron starts to chase me up the stairs. “Ouch!” I yell out as his hand connects with my buttocks. I turn and smile at him, so he knows I like it.

He does it again, a little harder this time. I yell out once again, as my pussy throbs in excitement.

I slow down and try to compose myself. “We’re here,” I say, as I open the door to the hotel corridor. His eyes are glistening with excitement, and I know mine are as well.

I swipe my key card over the door, the same one Alan has.

Aaron’s arms quickly wrap around my waist, pushing me into the room and closing the door behind us. He spins me towards him and pushes his lips into mine, forcing me backwards into the small table.

I edge my buttocks up on to it, spreading my legs. Aaron presses his body into the space I’ve made for him. His kisses are powerful, needy, as though he’s wanted me for a long time.

I push my fingers into his buttocks, and squeeze them firmly. Aaron’s hands start to move over my body.

Go slower… this is your last time, I think to myself.
